ABOUT
Marlene grew up in a Christian home in Calgary and received Christ as her Saviour at the age of six in an after-school club. She wanted to go into missions, so she attended Nipawin Bible Institute for three years. This is where she began working with children and determined that she wanted to work with Child Evangelism Fellowship. After taking time to raise her support, she worked with CEF in Alberta for the next 30 years, as a local director, teacher trainer, and administrator. She spent 15 years in Three Hills, where she had the opportunity to teach some children's courses at Prairie College. During this time, she finished a Bachelor of Religious Education from Prairie Bible Institute and received an MA in Leadership and Ministry from Ambrose University. In 2012, Marlene was asked to come to King's Fold Retreat and be a part of the community that ran the retreat centre. It has been 10 years, and she hopes to continue there until retirement. Marlene began attending RockPointe the months after coming to King's Fold and got involved in Children's Ministry immediately. She likes to garden (in pots), quilt, and read, especially historical fiction as history fascinates her.
