Prayer and Healing Prayer

Would you like to receive prayer or healing prayer? There are several ways to receive prayer:

  • Altar Prayer: Dedicated elders and intercessors make themselves available to pray with those desiring prayer immediately following each weekend service. If you have a need, please come to the front of the auditorium at the conclusion of the service, and someone will pray with you.

  • Elder’s Prayer: Based on the principle set forth in James 5:14-16, our RockPointe Elders are available to pray for and anoint with oil anyone with a need for healing.

  • To receive prayer: Fill out the form at the bottom of the page, email the Church Office, or call (403) 851-0011.

Prayer for Healing FAQ

God, in His great mercy and kindness, sent His only Son Jesus into the world, not only to bear our sins, but also our sicknesses in His death on the cross (Isaiah 53:4,5 and Matthew 8:17). God is not just interested in our souls, but in our "whole person." The Apostle Paul taught, ‘Our bodies were made for the Lord and the Lord cares about our bodies’ (1 Corinthians 6:13). Nowhere is the compassion of Jesus more evident than in His healing ministry.

As we read through the Gospels, it becomes clear that Jesus’ healing ministry was second only to His teaching ministry, and in most cases, these two aspects of His ministry were intertwined. Jesus healed for the sake of the afflicted person, and when credit was given, it was always directed toward His Heavenly Father.

Healing is of significant importance in the redemptive ministry of Jesus. But the Scriptures make it clear that our focus is not on the healing but on the One who heals and on the glory of God. We must entirely depend upon Jesus Himself, for He is the healer.

"Are any of you sick? You should call for the elders of the Church to come and pray over you anointing you with oil in the name of the Lord. Such a prayer offered in faith will heal the sick, and the Lord will make you well. And if you have committed any sins, you will be forgiven. Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results." James 5:14-16

In James 5:14-16 the privilege of anointing with oil in the name of the Lord for healing is made available to anyone who is sick. Those who wish this ministry are instructed to "call for the elders of the church." Divine healing always involves dealing with the whole person – body, mind, and soul. Therefore the spiritual issue of unconfessed sin must be addressed before seeking any form of healing.

It is always good for the person seeking healing to spend time in spiritual preparation before being prayed for and anointed with oil. The anointing oil symbolizes the power of the Holy Spirit and helps keep the focus on God.

Here at RockPointe, you can "call for the Elders of the church" in one of two ways:

  1. As part of our regular worship services, when Communion is served, an opportunity is given to those seeking physical or emotional healing to be prayed for and anointed by a team of Elders and intercessors.

  2. Individuals can contact the Elders anytime to ask for healing prayer and anointing. The prayer can occur in the individual’s home, in a hospital room, or in conjunction with a service at any of our sites. Please get in touch with the Church Office to arrange the time and place or to request more information.

* It should be noted that our Elders’ prayer ministry does not preclude the wise use of medicines prescribed by a physician. At no time will our elders give counsel related to refraining from taking medication prescribed by a physician. The Scriptures teach, ‘Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of heavenly lights.’ We believe that science, medicine, and trained health practitioners are GOOD gifts from God, and divine healing is a PERFECT gift from God.
