Ezra 8: 23 "So we fasted and petitioned our God about this, and he answered our prayer."
God’s timing is perfect. For me, it is because He knows and understands the big picture. As we are learning in this sermon series, God’s timing was instrumental in the big picture in the book of Ezra as the exiles came back to Jerusalem to build the temple. As Pastor Ron shared, they faced opposition and delays in the rebuilding.
At times it has felt like we have faced obstacle after obstacle to get our land rezoned so that we can move forward with a permanent RockPointe home for Kingdom growth in the SW. However, God’s timing is perfect. On October 17, 2024 our rezoning application will be brought before the Calgary Planning Commission for approval. If this passes, then the next step is to take it to City Council for final approval in November.
The Westhills Discernment Team has worked hard in the past year to strengthen relationships with both our neighbours and the City of Calgary. Now we, as all of RockPointe Church, need to stand together and pray.
We as the Westhills Discernment Team ask you to pray with us specifically on October 17, 2024 (and before) for the meeting between our representatives and the City of Calgary Planning Commission. We ask you to pray “that His will be done” with respect to the rezoning application and moving forward in the SW.
Before we set out in any major undertaking, we as RockPointe need to submit ourselves to Jesus in humility and seek His hand of blessing. We praise Jesus and thank Him for the privilege of prayer. May we never take it for granted or neglect our responsibility to pray.
For some of you, this will include fasting as a spiritual discipline. The Elders have focused the past month or so on fasting and prayer as we prepare for the future. We encourage you to ‘lean in’ to fasting just as they did in Ezra 8: 23. We look forward to a RockPointe Day of Fasting and Prayer in the future.
In Christ’s name,
