CANDIDATING WEEKEND

Ron Gray, Bearspaw Interim Lead Site Pastor

Typically when I write To the Pointe, it is devotional in nature. Today I want to divert from that pattern. Although, knowing me, I suspect that I will not be able to resist slipping a little Pastoral note in at the end.

This is a very important weekend for RockPointe Church. It is a Candidating Weekend. What this means is that after much prayerful consideration and due diligence, our Board of Elders has invited Stafford Greer to come and candidate for the role of Lead Site Pastor. This weekend will contain many opportunities for the good people of RockPointe to meet, greet, and get to know a little bit more about Stafford and his family. As a part of the numerous gatherings, you will have an opportunity to hear some of the Greer family’s story and hear Stafford’s heart for ministry and the future of the church.

If you consider RockPointe to be your church family, I encourage you to make the time to come and join in the process of discernment that God has invited us into. Below are some important dates and times to keep in mind.

All Sites Together

Friday, March 1, 2024 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Bearspaw Site.

This will be a RockPointe wide Meet & Greet. RockPointe Intercultural, Bowridge, Westhills, and Bearspaw will all be together in one place! It will be an Elder led time of fun, fellowship, and connection during which you will hear more from our candidate. Youth activities will be available as a part of the evening’s festivities.

At three of our Sites this weekend there will be an opportunity to fellowship, mingle, and hear a condensed version of the Greer’s story. These events will be attached to the regular weekend services.

Stafford will be speaking at all services.

Bowridge

Saturday, March 2, 2024 from 5:15-6:15 p.m., there will be a Chili Potluck at Bowridge followed by the regular service.

Bearspaw

Sunday, March 3, 2024 from 8:45-9:45 a.m., there will be a Coffee fellowship at Bearspaw followed by the regular service.

Westhills

Sunday, March 3, 2024 from 11:45 a.m. – 12:45 p.m., there will be a Cookie fellowship at Westhills. This will follow the regular service which begins at 10:30 a.m.

"For it seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us..." Acts 15:28

Throughout the history of the church, God’s people have gathered to worship, celebrate, discuss, pray, and discern God’s direction. Acts 15 gives the account of a pivotal time in the life of the early church. An important decision needed to be made. In the passage we see that those who God had called to lead the body forward gathered to both apply reason and to seek God’s direction. After much prayer and consideration, a decision was made and the path into the future was discerned. This is the type of moment we are experiencing now at RockPointe.

Please come to prayerfully and joyfully engage in what God is inviting us to this weekend!

Looking to God,

Ron Gray
